Outright Gifts Of Cash
Gifts of cash are the most common way of supporting the Kappa Scholarship Endowment Fund, Inc.™ (KSEF). Your gift is tax deductible. Presently the KSEF has three categories of cash gifts:

Named Endowed Scholarship Program (NESP)
This program permits donors to name the scholarship which they have endowed and requires either a one-time payment of at least $5,000 or a pledge of at least $5,000 over the course of three years with an initial payment of $1,667.00 and the remainder paid in increments of at least $1,667.00 per year.

The Hank Young Plan
A minimum contribution of $365.00 in any calendar year; paid in quarterly increments of $91.25.

General Donations
Contributions of any amount.

All checks should be made payable to the Kappa Scholarship Endowment Fund, Inc. or simply KSEF and sent to:
The Kappa Scholarship Endowment Fund, Inc.
P.O. Box 29331
Washington, DC 20017-0331

Gifts of the following types may also be made:

Gifts of Securities
Gifts of securities, especially appreciated stock, offer two distinct advantages to the donor:
  • A charitable income tax deduction
  • Elimination of a capital gains tax
Gifts of other Capital Assets
It may be to your advantage to make a gift of other capital assets. These assets include real estate, works of art, insurance, antiques, jewelry, etc. The advantages of any particular gift depend on the donor's circumstances. One's estate assets may be distributed over the owner's lifetime in order to reduce future estate taxes and administrative costs.

Life Income Plans
Life income gifts may be funded through a variety of assets, including those described above.

Life Insurance
A donor may name the Kappa Scholarship Endowment Fund, Inc. irrevocably as the owner and beneficiary of a life insurance policy.

Bequests
A donor may add the Kappa Scholarship Endowment Fund, Inc. to his/her will as a beneficiary or contingent beneficiary. Bequest of at least $5,000 may be used to establish a Named Endowed Scholarship (NESP).

Matching Gifts
Many companies have a program, which matches gifts to non-profit tax-exempt organizations. This information and the appropriate forms should be available in your employer's personnel department.

Our “Named Endowed Scholarship Program” (NESP), in fact, was established as a vehicle for perpetuating the memory and commitment of those in our community who assist others seeking to improve their lives through education. The minimum amount required to establish a Named Endowed Scholarship is $5000.00 which guarantees the awarding of a $500 (minimum) scholarship annually to a graduating senior of the District of Columbia Public Schools. To date over 85 such scholarships have been endowed through KSEF.

* The individuals and organizations listed above have contributed a minimum of five thousand dollars ($5,000) to establish a Named Endowed Scholarship. These scholarships are awarded annually to District of Columbia high school graduates.
